Thanks to our collaboration with Incoming Experience, the sixth edition of Turin Epicurean Capital is extended and will last 6 days instead of our usual 3.
In June 2019, our guests get the opportunity to visit the beating heart of Piedmont: the Langhe wine district and a bit of Roero too ๐
Top Italian wine producing region and white truffle hub of the world, within Piemonte there are many wine districts and traditional food production areas; however only 3 made it to the Unesco World Heritage Site list: Langhe, Roero and Monferrato.
Despite being close to each other, their geographical and geological conformations are rather different as you eye and palate can intuitively tell you.
These territories are made of tiny medieval hamlets perched on the top of vineyard covered hills.
If Monferrato counts more castles than in the Loire Valley, in France, the Langhe area comprised between Alba and Asti has the highest concentration of Michelin starred restaurants in the whole world!
And Roero is the Piedmont unique fruit and vegetable garden thanks to its many family owned farms, orchards and hazelnut groves ๐
How's that for a truly epicurean lifestyle?? ๐

Silvia Cordero |
On June 23, 2019 some of the TurinEpi19 guests will meet in Turin with Alice and Silvia of Incoming Experience and will start their epicurean 3 days.
The first stop will be the Banca del Vino in Pollenzo. Producing the highest number of DOC and DOCG (the highest quality wine denominations as regulated by the Italian government), Piedmont has a wine bank that our guests will visit and where they will also do a wine tasting ๐
Bra is both a beautiful Baroque small town - see the red bricks?? - and a cheese |
Then, they'll go on a tour of Bra where the the Slow Food movement was founded in the 1980s and where Slow Cheese - the cheese convention - is organized in odd years.
A truffle hunt demo is on the program too - it is a demo because white truffles are 'the diamonds of the table', unlike the more common black truffles, they can't be cultivated and only well trained and pricey dogs can find them!! Therefore the trifulau or the truffle hunters keep the truffle zones as secret as De Beers guards their mines ๐
the Alba hills |
Lunch will be at Cadia Vini a small family owned farm with vineyard where our guests will be able to savor some of the authentic traditional products of this corner of our land.
The Wine Museum in Barolo is another must-visit stop where wine is presented in its whole well-rounded culture: at the table, in literature, cinema, history, art and more!
More wine tasting follows at Antiche Cantine Marchesi di Barolo or the Marquis of Barolo's Old Cellars since 1807, cheers!
Dinner will be served on a beautiful terrace overlooking the hills and the vineyards at Casa Nicolini's in the Barbaresco red wine production heart!
traditional tajarin pasta made with 40 yolks! |
This wonderful tour ends with a visit of Alba where Nutella and Ferrero Rocher are from! Besides Ferrero, this small medieval town is famous for its 100 towers.
Finally, one last winery visit with wine tasting at world's famous winery Cantine Fontanafredda since 1858 when the King of Savoy bought this estate as a present to his mistress!
